Dear Juno,
I believe that Juno made the right decision. Especially seeing the outcome and how it turned our good. It is honestly a very hard decision. She chose to use the strength to have the child and found the good option of adoption. What she did avoided abortion. Abortion would have been easier, but people learn from hardship. I believe most people try to avoid abortion but what would happen if it was never an option? The choice comes down to Roe v Wade. This allowed abortion in all states. Not all states see the same way on this though. Many states would outlaw the abortion. Juno wasn’t ready to raise a child so was she ready to birth one? She chose to take the challenge and let the child live.
However, Juno had a lot of support. She had parents who supported her decision and understood what she was going through. There are situations where a girl would lose all support because of what happened. They see abortion as their only option.
I have a policy that works well in most situations. If the action affects another person, then it cannot solely be one person’s choice and probably needs to be regulated. Abortion seems to behave differently than most things though. The ultimate question is when does someone become a person?
Personally I believe that once a child is conceived, they are considered a person. They are living and have been reasoned to be able to sense outside environments. The whole thing points towards potential life and a future. There is a potential person who will grow up if allowed to. While choice for yourself is good, choice for others is harder.
I think that we should lean towards pro life but allow for better support options when choosing to deny abortion. Some girls or women just do not have the support needed to not have an abortion. Making adoption easier and such would help.
